News from Mrs Grimes
This week marks the two year anniversary of the first lockdown. I remember very well the day we closed our school, 20th March 2020, and the weight of uncertainty that followed us as we all went home that day, not knowing what lay ahead. I also remember how beautiful Spring 2020 was, bright sunny days, daffodils and magnolia certainly made the start of that first lockdown much easier.
This week Spring has very much sprung again at RHS but this time, happily bringing us out of our two year hibernation. It has been a joy to see our students out playing, chatting, picnicking on our field at lunchtime, and enjoying the fresh Spring air, reminding us how fortunate we are to have such lovely open space to make the most of.
March has certainly been a busy month. Some of our highlights have been Science week which has provided students with a new perspective as they follow some more unusual lessons, Book Week got us all talking about our favourite reads, the Gardening Club, expertly led by Mrs Danger and Louisa Bates, Year 11, have been working hard on tidying and planting ready for the summer, and the KS3 football team beat their opponents this week 15-0 ( look out for the match report coming soon).
At our Year 7 & 8 assembly this week, Mrs Williams talked to students about the importance of charitable values and our students are more keen than ever to start fundraising again - look out for more information on Parentmail, and thank you in advance for your support.
Our termly Celebration Assemblies are coming up next week and we look forward to the opportunity to congratulate students from all year groups for their efforts and positive attitudes to learning in subjects across the curriculum.
A busy month indeed and never a dull day at RHS.
Enjoy the sunshine this weekend and Happy Mother’s day!
