Experience Rome for a Day
On Friday 15th July students across the school experienced Rome for a Day, thanks to the classics department! Attempts were made at a sticky colosseum of custard creams, though the 3D puzzle version was more successful. Students tried their hand at the Roman game of Tabula and played scrabble in Latin. Togas were donned and genuine Roman artefacts, from hairpins to loom weights were studied. A library of Latin books was available to browse and students enjoyed mindful colouring of Roman designs. The highlight was the VR headsets with immersive tours of Athens, Olympia, Rome and Pompeii with shrieks of delight from the students as they span around with the columns and statues looming around them!
This was our first Rome for a Day, but its success means we hope to host it again next year. Our tanks to Warwick Uuniversity for the awesome VR headsets.
