World Book Day celebrated in style

Fantastic costumes, cakes, books and atmosphere in school

Thursday 7th March was World Book Day and students and staff surpassed themselves with an amazing array of costumes! Students dressed up as Hello Kitty, Scooby Doo characters, Sonic the Hedgehog, Cruella De Vil and Julia Donaldson's Snail from Snail and the Whale. Harry Potter characters have been spotted as well as Star Wars, Bagpuss and Alice in Wonderland!

Mr Grady came as 'Wordsworth's muse', a golden daffodil inspiring the poem 'I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud!'

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Other staff costumes ranged from the Famous Five to the 3 musketeers, Enola Holmes, Clarke Kent, Cruella Devil, Batman, Gangsta Granny and more!

World Book Day themed cakes were also on sale at lunchtime in the hall, along with a preloved books sale - all in aid of Book Aid international.

Here's a selection of the creative costumes and cakes that filled the classrooms. For more pictures visit our gallery
