Every year Rugby High takes part in the EES (Engineering Education Scheme) to complete an engineering-based project with local company GE. Anoushka Dutta reports:
145 Students from Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 took part in the DofE expedition training day at the weekend to prepare themselves for their expeditions later this year. The Bronze DofE expeditions will take place locally in Northamptonshire, Silver will be travelling to the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District, and the Gold DofE expeditions will take place in the Lake District and Snowdonia. First4Adventure helped students to put up tents, practise their cooking on trangias, administer first aid and gave them general advice on walking and what kit to take. This marked the first time that the teams had been able to work together – the students embraced the whole experience and what a great day it was!
Some of Mrs Grunfeld’s Year 8 students have created a blog following their Geography topic on environmental issues. It contains environmental craft projects, an animal of the week, and some beautiful photos. Take a look by clicking on this link:
