Peer Listening Initiative Launched This Week
Our Peer Listening initiative is being launched in school this week. Students have been informed in Assemblies this week that the school now has a group of 21 selected and trained Peer Listeners.
Year 12 students who have received training from the Samaritans will, from next week, be available to listen to any student in Main School who wants to talk someone other than a member of staff about something that is bothering them – be it something at school or at home. All they need do is make an appointment via email or drop in to the Peer Listening Room at break or lunchtime.
Rachel Stephens in Year 12: “I think it is important to let younger students have someone to talk to other than their teachers and pastoral team.”
Charlotte Rivers-Fletcher: “When I was in Year 7, I would have liked to have had the opportunity to talk to someone who could easily relate to my experiences as young person.”
